Qamar Hakimdin, a former personnel administrator, died Thursday
in Mediplex Nursing Home in Weymouth. He was 68.
He was born in the Fiji Islands, the son of the assistant minister
of education for the British government there.
He received his master's degree in education from Springfield
College in 1954. After college, he lived in India, helping to place
personnel in positions of employment. He also helped his mother, a
physician, care for refugees in camps during the India-Pakistan
conflicts.
Mr. Hakimdin returned to the United States in 1966 and attended
graduate school at the University of Western Kentucky. A year later
he moved to Cambridge to help administer benefits for war veterans.
