The young woman stood sobbing in her travel agent's office. She should have been on her way to spend a week basking in the sun at a Mexican beach resort. But her fully paid, $1,000 holiday -- her first in three years -- was in jeopardy, she had just learned, because the tour company flying her to Mexico suddenly had gone out of business.
