Q. Is it true that even children can qualify for help from Social
Security if they HIV/AIDS?
A. Yes. The disability benefits are paid under the Supplemental
Security Income program, which is administered by the Social Security
Administration. SSI disability payments go to people of any age who
have little income and resources. Children with low family incomes
who are disabled may qualify.
Q. Will my retirement pension from my job reduce the amount of my
Social Security benefit?
A. If you get a pension from work where you paid Social Security
taxes, it will not affect your Social Security benefits. However, if
