SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina -- The flier would hardly raise an
eyebrow in the Middle East. But in the still largely secular capital
of Bosnia, the simple white leaflet stunned those Sarajevans who
happened to see it.
"So, dear sister, we remind you of your obligation of behaving
within the rules of Islam -- especially those which have to do with
your dress, attitude and social relations," said the pamphlet,
printed by a Kuwaiti aid organization. "Allah says in your house you
must stay and your beauty must not be shown. . . . If you don't
follow these rules, it is a sin."
