The Red Sox have clinched the American League East title but they are turning the close of the season into something of an adventure.

They made three lineup changes within an hour of game time last night, then committed a season-high four errors, executed a season-high four double plays and had three base runners thrown out in a 7-4 loss to Detroit.

The situation will not remain static for tonight's game, either, since Jose Canseco will make his first outfield appearance since 1993. Canseco, who has been a designated hitter in 97 games since joining the Red Sox this year, will play left field at Fenway Park for the first time.
