H. James Curtis of Braintree, owner of Eastern Packaging Inc. of Lawrence, died unexpectedly at his home on Saturday. He was 55.

Born in Quincy, he later moved to Braintree. He graduated from Thayer Academy in Braintree and attended the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. He also served in the US Coast Guard.
