Massachusetts' nursing homes don't have to wait for the Republican Congress to cut their funding. The Weld administration may do it first.

The trade group for nursing homes yesterday filed a bill in the Legislature that would block the administration from putting a new reimbursement system into place. Under the proposed scheme, roughly half the state's 550 nursing homes would get less money next year than they get now. As a group, the nursing homes would receive $11 million less in 1996 than they got in 1995.
