A funeral will be held today for Richard L. Chalmers of Newton, an
advertising executive and professional magician, who died of lung
cancer Tuesday in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 68.
Mr. Chalmers was born in South Boston.
After serving in the Navy during World War II, he earned a
bachelor's degree in public relations and communications at Boston
University.
He was an advertising executive at several radio and TV
stations, including WARA in Attleboro, WICC in Bridgeport, Conn., and
WNHC in New Haven, where he was also general manager. He was general
