LEXINGTON -- It is a fact insufficiently recognized that the
mezzo-soprano Gale Fuller ranks with the best Boston-based singers,
which means she ranks with the best singers of her kind anywhere.
Locally there hasn't been a Rossini mezzo of this quality since
D'Anna Fortunato last sang the rondo-finale from "Cenerentola."
Back when the Boston Lyric Opera was at Northeastern University,
nearly a decade ago, Fuller gave promising performances as Rosina in
"The Barber of Seville" and Mother Marie in "The Dialogues of the
Carmelites," but hasn't sung with the company since. She ...
