Article: Bown happy he's back on track after Pocono, Talladega scares

Chuck Bown, once of Franconia and more recently doing his auto racing out of North Carolina, had an up close and personal look at Ricky Craven's wild Winston Cup crash last weekend at Talladega.

In fact, Bown was a little closer to the whole affair than he would have preferred. Bown was running well in the race and was behind the crash pack but still got caught up by one of the cars -- he's not even sure which one -- when it came sliding down off the track. Bown's car was not badly damaged -- but was wrecked enough to knock him off his previous pace.

Craven, after going airborne at somewhere near 190 m.p.h., was knocked out of the race and will also miss next week's Busch Grand National race ...
