RUMFORD, R.I. -- Steve Scott began the final round of the
Northeast Amateur in control. He finished in denial.
"Nothing was happening that was any good," said Scott, after
handing Jason Enloe the title with bogeys on the last four holes at
Wannamoisett CC. "The way I finished was awful. You're always
thinking about it; I tried not to think about it, though. The second
place trophy is what I'll take with me. I just can't understand."
What he couldn't understand was a final-round 5-over-par 74 for a
total of 277. While Scott's game was fading, Enloe was coming on
with a final-round 65.
Scott, of Coral Springs, Fla., began his downfall with bogeys on
