Article: Diet pills nearly kill her daughter

Dear Beth:

My 15-year-old daughter is popular, has a beautiful figure, but she thinks she's fat. We almost lost her when she accidentally overdosed on diet pills. I believe she now realizes she could have easily lost her life, but she's still convinced she's fat.

I told her she's beautiful, but she feels I only say that because I'm her mother. No one has ever thought of her as someone who is insecure -- until now. She has grown up in a home with a positive atmosphere. Now, I find myself watching her and worrying about whether she's eating, which doesn't help. She expects me to just forget that it ever happened. WHAT CAN I DO?
