Fans and critics often scream for artists to step out of their
molds and do something different. Apparently, Vince Gill was
listening. Nashville's vaunted country gentleman knows that "dreamy
ballads" are a major reason he was named entertainer of the year and
best male vocalist by the Country Music Association. But there's
more to Gill than ballads, as he affirms on a new disc that runs from
sparse mountain bluegrass to a roadhouse rave-up reminiscent of
Stevie Ray Vaughan.
After years of hits and accolades, Gill has earned the right to
experiment.
"It was time to reinvent ourselves and do something a little
