WASHINGTON -- The New England Revolution's long-promised
international striker is on the way, according to Major League Soccer
officials. Hugo Arrieta, currently with Deportivo Pereira in
Colombia, could join the Revolution before the team's visit to Los
Angeles Thursday.
Arrieta formerly was paired with Ruben Dario Hernandez on
Pereira's front line. Hernandez left Pereira and went on to become
the leading scorer in Colombia and a member of the national team.
However, Hernandez struggled in MLS with the New York/New Jersey
MetroStars and likely will return to Colombia.
The Revolution have attempted to find a replacement for Giuseppe
Galderisi, who was released in early May.
