JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia -- He long ago abandoned his military
uniform, dressing in the simple long white garment of the Saudi
Arabians, praying on Fridays near his roomy villa or at the glorious
Bukhshan mosque around the corner from the luxury supermarket that he
and other expatriates favor.
At 300 pounds and 6 feet 3 inches tall, Idi Amin, the former
Ugandan ruler whose butchery and buffoonery made him an obscene
caricature of the Third World dictator throughout the 1970s, is
unmistakable, a fixture around town in this Red Sea city.
