Jerry Goehring is 33. He comes from Kansas. He's married; he's
polite, sincere and disarmingly sweet in that Midwestern way. He's
also a man obsessed. His idol: Doris Day.
"Her favorite thing is to go shopping at the Safeway," he says
softly. "She is a normal, everyday person who loves to squeeze the
melons. If you didn't know she was Doris Day, you'd think she was
the neighbor next door."
You wait for the punch line. It doesn't come. Goehring is
serious, deadly serious.
