Robert Taylor is the retired chief book critic of the Globe.
Founded in 1900 by Julia Ward Howe, the Boston Authors Club is one
of the more venerable writers' associations on the regional scene.
The club is sponsoring a $500 award for "a Boston-area author who has
published a book of literary merit in 1996."
Submissions can be directed to A. Richard, 45 Chiltern Road,
Weston, MA 02193 (to cover the cost of returning the manuscript,
include $3). Deadline for submissions is March 1; the winner will be
announced May 1.
