Article: Gill, tall and talented, grows into hockey star

BOLTON -- He's 6 feet 7 inches tall, plays tough defense and is a team captain at Providence College. No, Hal Gill isn't a member of his school's basketball team. He's a hockey defenseman and a draft pick of the Boston Bruins, who can't wait to get a peek at him in training camp next fall.

Jean Ratelle, a former Bruins star who scouted Gill at Nashoba Regional High, never had to skate against a defenseman as tall as Gill during his National Hockey League days. "Six-foot-3 or 4 were the tallest," he recalled.
