Florian Hocke likes his car. The brown Toyota has served him well
since he bought it in 1983.
But after 159,000 miles, even what he calls "the best car ever
made" is going to have to be replaced soon. So Hocke has started
shopping -- not for a car, but for a home equity loan.
"I've been throwing away all those home equity loan ads you get,"
the Temple Hills resident said. "Now I'm going to have to start
keeping a file and see who's offering the best terms."
Between newspaper ads and offers that show up in the mail, Hocke
will have plenty to pick from. But as long as he's willing to shop,
he should be able to find a good deal, according to experts.
