At: the Orpheum, Saturday night
"Every day is a winding road," sings Sheryl Crow on her new hit
song. And some days are more winding than others, starting with
Saturday at the Orpheum. That's when the Crow express -- which had
picked up steam with another Grammy win this week -- hit a surprising
snag in the road.
Crow's previous Orpheum show (in 1995) was an unforgettable
coming-out party, in which she rocked the house. But Saturday's
return engagement, although sold out, was a letdown because she
played with one of the worst touring bands in memory.
It was confusing, and inexplicable, to see an artist of Crow's
