To hear some health care administrators tell it, providing mental
health services to Medicaid patients can be a no-win proposition.
Simply put, they need more help than the average patient.
But Betsy Pattullo and her partners in Beacon Health Strategies of
Boston don't see it that way -- and are out to turn a profit by
managing hard-to-manage Medicaid cases.
Pattullo and her partners, Deborah Nelson and Paula
Gillis-Ojemann, come to their task from Mental Health Management of
America, where they ran mental health management services for
Massachusetts Medicaid patients under a state contract. MHMA lost
