Article: Judge OK's milk price increase Ruling aids New England dairy farmers; shoppers will pay more at some markets

A federal judge yesterday cleared the way for New England dairy farmers to start getting paid about 25 cents a gallon more for their milk, a price increase that some area supermarkets say will be passed on at least partially to consumers.

Although officials from the region's largest dairy cooperative said a price increase at the retail level is not warranted, a spokesman for Shaw's Supermarkets said milk prices will go up next week when the new regulatory system takes effect.
