Victoria Gifford Kennedy, the estranged wife of Michael L.
Kennedy, yesterday told State Police investigating her husband's
relationship with a teenage baby sitter that she had no knowledge of
underage sex between the two and saw no basis for prosecutors to
proceed with possible charges of statutory rape, sources told the
Globe yesterday.
The sources also said that Mrs. Kennedy disputed widespread
reports that she had once discovered her husband and the young woman
in bed together in the Kennedys' Cohasset home.
Altogether, her statements to investigators -- the first from a
member of the Kennedy family -- underscored the kind of obstacles
that may make it impossible for Norfolk District ...
