Gale Gordon, 89, whose prissy manner and comic tantrums made him a
favorite of viewers of "Our Miss Brooks" and three Lucille Ball
series, died of cancer June 30 at a nursing home in Escondido, Calif.
Mr. Gordon's most enduring performances were delivered on "The
Lucy Show," on which he appeared from 1963 to 1968. He played the
stubborn, stuffy bank manager Mr. Mooney, whose life was bedeviled by
his part-time employee Lucy Carmichael, played by Ball.
From 1968 to 1974, Mr. Gordon played the equally blustery brother-
in-law and employer of Lucy Carter (Ball) at the Unique Employment
Agency on "Here's Lucy." Ball considered Mr. Gordon so indispensable
