For three weeks, their deep divisions and divergent interests have
been open and obvious: Michael L. Kennedy, the outraged family of the
teenager with whom he allegedly had a five-year affair, and US
Representative Joseph P. Kennedy II, who has seen the formative phase
of his campaign for governor disrupted by media fallout from his
brother's scandal.
But much less obvious are the common interests, which sources and
close observers of the controversy believe are pushing
representatives of Michael Kennedy and those of Paul and June
Verrochi and their daughter toward a negotiated agreement aimed at
ending the furor.
All want to see the media back off from the story.
