During those grief-filled days following the assassination of
President John F. Kennedy, several poignant and indelible memories
linger from the moment America buried its fallen leader.
The riderless horse striding down Pennsylvania Avenue. Kennedy's
young son, John Jr., saluting his father's casket.
And one that was remembered yesterday: Command Sergeant Major
Francis Ruddy removing his green beret and placing it near the
eternal flame on Kennedy's gravesite at Arlington National Cemetery.
Yesterday, in a solemn ceremony, that green beret was dedicated as
part of the permanent collection of the John F. Kennedy Library.
