Article: Kayaks and canoes paddle to popularity

In his former travels throughout New England, Mike Hannigan would often find his curiosity piqued when he drove over a bridge and glanced down at the river below. He would see it wind, then disappear around a bend. Where did it lead to, he would wonder.

Today he and his wife, Betty, do not just wonder. They find out.

Hannigan likes putting out in his canoe in the early morning, when a low mist fractures sunbeams. The water appears surreal as he paddles, on this day, south from Bridgewater down the Taunton River.
