Don't expect Federated Department Stores Inc. to open a store any
time soon in Prince George's County as a result of last Wednesday's
meeting between top executives of the company and County Executive
Wayne K. Curry.
Mark the date, however, as a red-letter day for Curry and county
residents.
By going to Cincinnati and making a solid case for Prince George's
County as a strong consumer market in its own right, and one with
expanding retail potential, Curry inaugurated a process that could
pay off in the long run. His visit to Federated's headquarters was a
masterstroke, even if it doesn't produce immediate results.
