Arnold Communications, New England's largest ad agency, is
set to be acquired by a Maryland marketing firm, people familiar
with the deal said last night.
The buyer, the sources said, is Bethesda-based Snyder
Communications Inc., which has purchased roughly one company a
month for the past 14 months. Terms could not be learned.
The deal could be announced as early as today, the sources
said. It would follow by just a month an agreement by Boston's
second-largest ad agency, Hill Holliday Connors Cosmopulos, to be
sold to Interpublic Group of Cos., a giant Madison Avenue company,
for more than $100 million. As a larger agency, Arnold should fetch
a higher price.
