Harvard Pilgrim Health Care said yesterday it had opened its
network to Brooks pharmacies, where members will be able to get the
same discounts on prescriptions that were previously available only
at CVS stores.
The decision by the state's biggest health maintenance
organization to include Brooks is only a first step in expanding
the choices of pharmacies for some 600,000 members of Harvard
Pilgrim in Massachusetts.
The HMO is expected to begin doing business with a range of
pharmacies, including Osco Drug Stores and independent drugstores.
"We're going to a much broader pharmacy network," said Harvard
Pilgrim spokesman Alan Raymond. The prices of drugs purchased at
