For the past 11 years, Trinity Church has held an annual AIDS healing service, and so preparing for tomorrow's should feel familiar. This year, though, preparations have taken on a different tone because the epidemic has entered a new phase, as have we who seek to care for people living with AIDS and their caregivers.

The combined work of education and new drugs have helped ease the crisis. Some of these drugs are indeed working miracles, and many people who were counting each tick of a clock that was running out now find themselves planning a new life.

That is not to say the devastation has ended, that the spread of the disease has been stopped, or that the ambiguity of living with HIV ...
