In "Kids," the next movie guaranteed to outrage the guardians of
American morality, the kids are all blight. The teenagers, many still
in junior high, cannot make it through an hour without violating
several dozen laws and conventions: They shoplift, drink, do drugs,
steal money, kick cats, beat up and perhaps murder a stranger, and
engage in an endless, mindless hunt for sex, without a condom in
sight.
The boys in "Kids" read Hate magazine, watch skateboarding videos,
drink Scotch from bottles inside brown paper bags, laugh about having
sex with "babies," urinate on Lexington Avenue, dismiss AIDS as a
