From Quincy to Plymouth, Milton to Bridgewater, and Scituate to
Weymouth, golf course developers are teeing up.
More than a dozen golf courses are on the drawing board now in
the suburbs south of Boston. Two opened in the past year, and four
others are under construction.
In Plymouth alone, six courses are being planned and another is
in the final construction stages.
"It's not just Plymouth, it's throughout the area," said Mark
Ridder, general manager of the 27-hole Waverly Oaks Golf Club in
South Plymouth, scheduled to open next month. "A lot of people are
looking to get into the business. It's a popular sport."
