A Braintree police officer who was dragged by a pickup truck
during a routine traffic stop Friday night was reported in good
condition at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth yesterday.
The driver of the truck, Scott W. Verrier, 32, who police
described as homeless, is charged with numerous offenses, including
assault with intent to kill, larceny of a motor vehicle, and
operating under the influence of alcohol, said Braintree Police
Sergeant Kevin McHugh.
According to McHugh, Lieutenant Russell Jenkins pulled Verrier
over at 10:36 p.m. Friday in the 800 block of Liberty Street in
