OAK BLUFFS -- Marc Hanover thought he had escaped big-city crime
when he left Boston for Martha's Vineyard 20 years ago. But two
recent drug-related slayings in a town known for its peace and
celebrity forced him to acknowledge that even on an island no one is
isolated from society's problems.
"The first drug-related death was unfortunate, but it was the
first in 20 years," said Hanover, owner of Linda Jean's Restaurant in
Oak Bluffs.
"But the second meant the problem was in our faces. This was no
fluke. It means we have a pervasive drug problem here."
