Kate Ellison learned to knit as a child, but it wasn't until she
became a mother that her hobby turned to a passion. "Now I knit
while I'm waiting at soccer fields, at hockey rinks -- everywhere,"
she said.
It was Ellison's idea to launch a knitting group when she moved to
Lynnfield seven years ago and was looking for ways to meet friends
with shared interests. The first five members who gathered around
her dining room table included Ellison, her mother Anne Robinson, who
is a knitting teacher from Beverly, and three of Robinson's students.
Today the group, officially named the Baa Baa Black Sheep, numbers
