BOSTON SYMPHONY CHAMBER PLAYERS At: Jordan Hall, Sunday afternoon
There was pretty nearly a full house for the Boston Symphony
Chamber Players in Jordan Hall Sunday afternoon, which is unusual for
this group. The attractive program may have helped draw people in
out of the rain and fog, and the added star power of Andre Previn
certainly did -- Previn was making his first appearance as guest
pianist with the group.
Previn has played chamber music since early childhood; one of the
ways he learned the literature was by playing piano four-hands with
his father. Jazz, too, is a form of chamber music. When Previn
accepted his first music directorship in Houston in 1967, he played
chamber music ...
