Article: Perot Plans to Form Third Party in Presidential Race

Ross Perot announced plans last night to form a third political party that will run a candidate against President Clinton and the Republican presidential nominee in 1996.

Perot, who as an independent candidate won 19 percent of the presidential vote in 1992, did not preclude himself from running for the nomination of the Independence Party.

He predicted that the new party would soon replace either the Democratic or Republican party. "One of those two parties is going to disappear, one of those special interest parties is going to melt down."
