Article: Bay State residents give $1.4m for Kosovars

The smallest donation was 53 cents from a 7-year-old girl. The largest, $48,000 from a church drive.

Donations that poured into American Red Cross chapters across Massachusetts over the past three months to aid Kosovar refugees total $1.4 million, making the state the fifth most-generous contributor nationally to the relief effort.

"There has been an outpouring from people who want to help anyway they can," said Heather Aiello, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Bay chapter of American Red Cross. "It's been incredible." Aiello noted that even with a peace accord signed, the humanitarian relief efforts will continue for months as Kosovar
