CALL IT a desperate, futile attempt to recapture my youth, but I
have been seized with the urge to form a rock band. I used to have
one, back in high school.
"We also used to set our hair with orange juice cans," my smart
friend Emily scoffed.
But it's not the idea of resurrecting my brilliant musical career
that is daunting, it's the thought of actually naming this band. A
band's name is its identity. Its animus. Its rosebud. The difference
between a cool name and a dweeb name could be the difference between
playing on the sidewalk in front of a subway stop versus seeing our
video on MTV, featuring babealicious models who would look just like
me and Emily and lip-synch to our songs, which ...
