West Coast sources yesterday said that comedian Whoopi Goldberg
has been named to host the 1996 Academy Awards ceremonies, which
will be seen on ABC March 25. David Letterman still hasn't recovered
from this year's assignment; Goldberg hosted last year. And Quincy
Jones is scheduled to be producer of the annual extravaganza. . . .
You'll have to wait until Friday, Nov. 17, to see them, but NBC
today is unveiling three state-of-the-art permanent sets for "Another
World" at the soap's Brooklyn studio . . .
All located in the fictional town of Bay City, they include a
hospital where ambulances can drive up to the ER doors, a two-story
police station and Carlino's Restaurant. In addition, two ...
