Article: Braintree man charged with raping girl, 11

In what authorities are calling a "despicable" crime, a Braintree man has been indicted on charges of allegedly drugging and raping an 11-year-old friend of his daughter.

Steven F. McNelley, 32, is accused of putting a depressant in the girl's hot chocolate and sexually assaulting her while she drifted in and out of consciousness at a Braintree hotel on May 1, Norfolk District Attorney William Keating said last night.

The girl, who was not identified, was staying with McNelley, his wife, and two children at a hotel. She is a friend of McNelley's 12- year-old daughter and was in the room for a sleepover party. Keating said it was unclear why the family was ...
