The record-breaking traffic on the Boston Globe's Web site
yesterday was driven at least in part by thousands of people who
wanted to post tributes to John F. Kennedy Jr.
At about 11 a.m., the Web site, Boston.com, invited visitors to
express their grief or thoughts in the form of messages left in chat
rooms or on a special electronic bulletin board.
Within minutes, dozens of people had sent in eulogies, poems, and
other comments.
"Though JFK Jr.'s fame is a byproduct of his two famous parents
and his extended family, he had a quality of his own that made
Americans feel proud that he represented us," wrote a Cambridge man.
