Don Imus is trying to make fun of Monday's Talk magazine party, a
gathering of Hollywood and New York swells to celebrate the launch of
Tina Brown's chronicle of contemporary culture.
A bastion of the elitist establishment, Talk magazine is
everything talk radio is supposed to hate. But Imus -- who is
leaving his longtime Boston base at WEEI-AM, perhaps to resurface at
WSJZ-FM -- can't feign much distaste. Even as he groans, "Geez . . .
30 years in New York, and I've never been to one of those things," he
chats up a Talk reveler, White House aide turned kiss-and-tell pundit
George Stephanopoulos. Here, even the veneer of disdain for Tina's
big bash vanishes.
