CLEVELAND -- Another year, another Division Series, same old stuff
for Nomar Garciaparra.
The Red Sox shortstop picked up where he left off in last year's
playoffs, slamming a home run last night against the Indians,
essentially teaming with first baseman Mike Stanley to shape the
entire Boston offense.
Leading off the second inning, the 26-year-old Garciaparra broke a
scoreless tie when he strong-armed a Bartolo Colon fastball over the
wall in right-center. The ball landed 418 feet from home plate,
impressive considering that Garciaparra wheeled around on Colon's
delivery virtually without stepping into the pitch.
