New evidence indicates the Milky Way, Earth's home galaxy, harbors
at least two and possibly a bevy of black holes, scientists report.
There was already widely accepted evidence of a black hole at
least six times the mass of the sun, some 8,000 light-years from
Earth in the constellation Cygnus. Astronomers from the University of
California at Berkeley said Friday that they have identified another
example of these monstrosities, using the 10-meter Keck Telescope in
Hawaii -- the largest optical and infrared telescope.
