Robert E. Griffin Sr. of Scituate, a former advertising executive, died Tuesday at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a long illness. He was 71.

Mr. Griffin, formerly of Dorchester, graduated from Northeastern University.

He served in the Army, and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

During a 28-year career as an advertising executive with Harold Cabot, Mr. Griffin worked with such companies as New England Telephone and New England Electric.

Mr. Griffin was a member of the Hatherly Country Club, the Clover Club and the Knights of Columbus, and was active in several charitable organizations, including the United Way and Sunlight ...
