BROOKLINE - Cherry & Webb, a women's department store that's been
a fixture in Coolidge Corner for 45 years, is closing at the end of
the month. The move will leave yet another empty store on a stretch
of Harvard Street that already has two large empty storefronts, and
again raises the question of whether the small-town feel of Coolidge
Corner is changing.
"These empty storefronts have visual repercussions with everything
in Coolidge Corner," said Michael Kerstein, owner of Simons Shoes on
Harvard Street. "You look at it and it's heartbreaking."
