Katie Lucas didn't know what to expect when she was strapped to a motorized table at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and tilted nearly upright.

"Within five minutes, I started having symptoms. I was a little queasy, starting seeing light spots, felt lightheaded and wasn't thinking clearly. I had a headache and felt sleepy," she recalled.
