BALTIMORE - Today's running of the Preakness is all about Fusaichi
Pegasus. This may be as close to a one-horse race as you can get.
The big bay, who dominated the Kentucky Derby, has already
defeated five of his seven opponents. He hasn't defeated the other
two, long shots Snuck In and Hugh Hefner, because he hasn't met them
yet.
The consensus seems to be that the only way Fusaichi Pegasus can
lose is if he beats himself. Those who were waiting for the high-
strung colt to act up in the Derby are still waiting. So, don't
expect any overly temperamental displays at the Preakness.
However, a new question arose yesterday: How would Fusaichi
Pegasus do on a muddy track? It rained here ...
